Intrams 2011: Consequences, Will and Reality

We move in this world with our own mind and heart. We were given a series of choices for we are blessed of what we call, free will. We can never move on in life if we do not make a choice. These choices will determine the consequences we will encounter, the blessings we will have and the tomorrow that we will live. And this reminds me of what happened in the previous 26th Founding Anniversary of our school, TUMCS.

It was the usual founding anniversary of our school. Every class should present in the field demonstration, practice for the intramural and keep an eye on the awarding on the last day of the celebration.

Tuesday has come and it is the performance day. The Cheer Dance of the 1st year and 2nd year was through and here comes the representatives of 3rd year, 3-Leah. They were wearing all black with an improvised skirt. You can hear the Seniors telling all what's in their minds with each other and when the 3-Leah started cheering, all the attention of the people especially the Senior's were hooked. 3-Leah started yelling their cheers with pride and confidence and performed very well. It made the Seniors react quite bitter that we honestly did not made our best. The strength of performing lowered. And as the juniors cheered with great joy and audience clapped, our confidence drowned even more. But why? Why did we react that way when in fact we are seniors of the school and we should be the best performers with great confidence? That is an example of: Wrong choice is equal to bad consequence. The Cheer Dance competitors including the Model Platoon chose not to practice hard and give their best. As simple as that kind of choice separates us from victory.

Despite the fall of the Seniors in the category of Cheer Dance and Ballroom. Good thing, God crowned us 1st placer in the category of Modern Dance. (Thank You, God! :D) Wednesday comes and all were excited for the intrams. Jerseys were on and balls were tossed in the court. The game starts and camaraderie was observed in every team because of the simple cooperation inside the game. As what I remember, I observed camaraderie in the team of 3-Rachel when Juzzrand Gimena substituted for AJ Lucas because the latter experienced ankle cramps during the game. And it was so nice of Juzzrand to accept the substitution offer. Another camaraderie-in-action was during the basketball girls competition. The 4th year team or SOLID Team, experienced a somehow rude kind of defense from their opponents and after their first game, some were injured. Thank God again because we won against the juniors. Diorela PeƱalosa, who was the "MVP" of the team, had the hardest injury, a knee cramp. For the Championship of the game, she was not permitted to play by the head of the committee. The team was losing because Diorela was not inside the game. To cut the long story of failure-again, our team did not rank champion. The seniors found it unfair and they were insisting that the head committee did not permit Diorela to play because the oppponent of our team were the sophomores and they were his advisory.
I still cannot agree with what they were insisting because it is not right for us to judge for we do not know the true purpose of his disapproval. I can just say that it was a will. A will of God for us. God may be teaching us something- something that we are not paying attention at for a period of time. It was a loss, yes. But we might have gained something from it. Like the importance of camaraderie. Although Diorela was not inside the game, it was a close fight. The players of SOLID were working as a team. It was subtle in our eyes by that time but when you look back at it, camaraderie was striking. That, we can say, is an example of: Will of God is not equal to the will of men. God moves in our lives purposely and surely He will not do anything that can harm or hurt us even more. We can say that the seniors were hurt, but I believe that if God did not do that, it will hurt us more. Not in that same situation, but in a different one. It's a lesson about how failure comes we need to remember.

It was still a Wednesday hot afternoon when every student belonging to IV-David experienced great tension and thrill watching the basketball and volleyball games our class executed. The players of the class was all tired but had no chance of winning any game. I saw faces of sadness and weariness: But that's reality. People win, and some don't. It's a matter of great effort and maturity. You don't have to think at all times that you are cheated. Instead, think of the positive side. You learned something from it. You need to practice your skills and endure more. The reality isn't the end of the world. It's about continuing to take the steps of moving on towards the goal of doing it all your best for God's glory. Even if the David Team was evicted in the game, they all cheered and stood up for the Solomon team.

It was all fair and square. Fairness is measured by how you conform in the rules, how you committed time for the preparation, and I believe, fairness is also measured by how your heart beats for the victory also.
